The Quran is the unaltered words of Allah, and the Hadith is about the life and teachings of Mohammad. These Islamic references teach that lying, stealing and murder are acceptable tools to expand Islam. Doesn't sound like a religion to me.
Islam is concerned only about spreading Islam. It is not concerned about the welfare of the Moslem. In the Hadith, unbelievers have three choices: accept Islam, war with Moslems or pay a tax and live a humiliating inferior status. Living as equals in peaceful coexistence is not a choice. Muhammad was commanded to fight non Moslems until they became Muslims or submit to Islamic law. Doesn't sound like a religion to me.
Unlike other religions, Islam has no moral code. Consequently, use of violence, deception and other criminal behavior is condoned.
This is Muhammad's Islam, and it is the same Islam practice and preached by many Moslems today. Therefore, I do not believe Islam can be characterized as a religion.
Historical records and present day news accounts show the true nature of Islam. The rape, murder, torture practiced and condoned by government and Islamic leaders defines the true nature of Islam, past and present.
Remember one of Mohammad's tools to spread Islam, taqiyya -- concealing true beliefs and denying offensive aspects of Islam. When you hear another apologist say Islam is a religion of peace, do not accept this deception.
